Come to Mercy Corps Action Center on International Day of the Girl when Flora Bagenal shares a global perspective on women and girls. Bagenal is a British journalist and producer with 12 years experience covering conflict and crisis in Africa, Asia, America and Europe.

Please note: This presentation will include stories of adolescent and young women in Jihad as well as women working to combat violent extremism. It is best suited for audiences of adolescent age and older.

About the Speaker

As senior reporter on women and girls for the global current affairs platform News Deeply, Bagenal has covered a huge spectrum of stories relating to the lives of women in conflict and crisis around the world. Recent stories include a spike in teenage pregnancies in West Africa during the ebola epidemic, the dangers of over medicalized birth in parts of Asia and Africa and the recruitment of young girls to extremism.

Bagenal also produces and shoots short films and documentaries and is currently working on a film about surrogacy.
