When Hayat arrived in Jordan after fleeing Syria, she felt lost and alone. She is just one of more than half a million Syrians who've made Jordan their temporary home while they wait for peace after four years of war in their home country.
The influx of people in need has put a strain on Jordan's resources, causing tensions between the refugees and their host neighbors. Mercy Corps holds community leader trainings that bring Syrians and Jordanians together to learn positive conflict-resolution strategies.
Working together, they come up with solutions to problems that will help everyone in the community — like building the new playground in Hayat's neighborhood. In this video, you can see how the community leader training helped Hayat get her confidence back and make new friends.
