After the devastation of the earthquake two years ago, Mercy Corps developed MiCRO (Microinsurance Catastrophic Risk Organization) to protect small business owners, especially women, from natural disasters. This gives them the resources and confidence to rebuild their enterprises for the future.

One of several pioneering programs to help the local economy recover and thrive, MiCRO was a finalist in Mercy Corps' 2012 Innovation & Impact Competition, voted on by over 800 staff worldwide.
