Glory Sunarto

Program Manager

Glory Sunarto has dedicated her professional life to the development sector for many years, working through local and international NGOs focused on livelihood, community development, and later on, financial inclusion.

She joined the Mercy Corps team in December 2005, one year after the tsunami struck Indonesia's Aceh Province. She wanted to participate in local recovery and early development efforts. Her first role was as an education officer, where she worked with schools to identify the infrastructures that needed to be rebuilt. Later on as a program manager, she led the 2.1 million USD community development program until 2010.

Glory currently works as the Mastercard Strive in Indonesia Program Manager. In her role, she is responsible for overseeing the growth of micro and small businesses through digitalization, access to financial products and services, and building the ecosystem's strength. This program, targeting 300,000 MSEs in four sectors—food & beverage, fashion, craft, and tourism value chains—currently empowers more than 140,000 MSEs, 67% of which are women, to ensure they have financial resiliency and improve business performance to be able to sustain their business.

A native of Indonesia, Glory worked with other international NGOs in between her services at Mercy Corps.

In 2012, she was involved in the Cocoa Life Project as a professional volunteer with VSO International in Ghana. In this role she provided capacity building for the relevant stakeholders within cocoa farming value chains to support better action planning and monitoring in providing the social amenities for the cocoa farming community.

Glory has a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Parahyangan Catholic University and a certificate in Entrepreneurial Studies from Portland State University.

When she’s not working, she enjoys singing and solving puzzle games. She loves cats and enjoys reading during her commuting time.
