Our Approach and Principles

For Mercy Corps, resilience is defined as the capacity of communities in complex socio-ecological systems to learn, cope, adapt, and transform in the face of shocks and stresses.

We aim to create just, secure and productive communities, which can be tracked across social, economic, political and ecological dimensions of well-being. To do so, there are four core principles for building resilience that will guide our practice. Read about them in the attached document.
