Humanitarian need around the world has reached levels I could not have imagined just a few short years ago. Communities hard hit by conflict and climate disaster are grappling with urgent shortages of food, water, and basic shelter and warmth as hope for the future withers.

At the same time, we faced an unthinkable 40% cut in foreign aid funding. This means families pushed to the brink have less support from the global community than ever before.

The year’s unprecedented challenges strengthened our determination to stand with communities. Supporters like you also rose to the moment. With your generous assistance, I’m proud to report that in 2025 Mercy Corps reached 37 million people across 35 countries with lifesaving care and lasting support.

What keeps our team moving forward is our unwavering belief in the power of human potential. It’s a belief firmly grounded in everyday reality. On the frontlines of ongoing crises in Sudan, Gaza, and Ukraine, our teams see daily proof that we can work with communities to overcome immense challenges.

Mercy Corps teams are known in our sector for working with local leaders to launch innovative programs and scale smart solutions to help communities recover and rebuild. For the last five years, 86% of our funding has gone to programs that directly support communities. And we ensure every penny counts.

Over the past year, colleagues have shared stories that have deepened my determination to build a better and brighter future. I am passing along a few below. I hope they will inspire you to continue turning your compassion into action—because what we all do now will shape what happens next.

Thank you for your dedication and support. We’re grateful to have you as part of our global community.

Sincerely,

Adapting today for tomorrow’s world

The path toward a future where everyone can thrive is built through innovation and collaboration. Mercy Corps partners with local leaders who know their communities best. That way, we’re better able to develop smart solutions to both take on emerging threats of the climate crisis and to create new possibilities.

Through these programs and more, Mercy Corps is leveraging some of today’s latest advancements to grow our impact and spark transformational change. Our teams are connecting people to the right tools and resources to unlock new opportunities for themselves and strengthen their communities for the future.

As crises keep unfolding and new challenges arise around the world, Mercy Corps remains hard at work. Alongside the communities we serve, our teams are focused on implementing the programs that create long-term, positive change. From delivering lifesaving assistance in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and the Caribbean to building enduring strength with communities in Indonesia, Syria, Kenya, and beyond—we won’t stop working to help people most in need.

Thanks to the support of our donors and partners, we have sparked new possibilities for people around the world in the past year. But conflict and climate change will only continue to put access to clean water, nutritious food, and secure livelihoods at immeasurable risk. We ask our global humanitarian community to help us keep pace. United by our values, we can build a better world for everyone to share.

What we all do now will shape what happens next.
