Children in Kurmuk, Sudan, clown for the camera. The city in the Blue Nile state, along the country's southern border, has been besieged by conflict since South Sudan's independence last July, as the countries struggle to negotiate resources and borders. While relief work has been blocked in these southern areas of Sudan, South Sudan is expecting hundreds of thousands of refugees to make their way into the country from the north in the coming months.
