Tell Congress: Help end suffering in Yemen

Yemen is facing the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. As a result of ongoing conflict, innocent families are confronting hunger and malnutrition, a lack of clean water, preventable diseases and a destroyed economy.

More than 22 million people – nearly three times the population of New York City – are in need of humanitarian assistance, relying on aid from organizations like Mercy Corps for survival. Nearly 14 million of these people face near-famine conditions.

The people of Yemen desperately need peace. A political solution to the almost four year-old conflict is the only way to put an end to this man-made humanitarian crisis.

My Message

Dear [Member of Congress],

I am deeply concerned about the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, where millions of innocent civilians continue to bear the brunt of war. With tens of thousands killed and injured by the fighting, millions more Yemenis are struggling to survive amidst the trifecta of hunger, disease and economic collapse. According to United Nations' estimates, each day the conflict continues, more than 100 innocent Yemenis die, many of whom are children.

Congress has the power to stop the suffering of innocent Yemenis, and we urge you to support all efforts to immediately address this human tragedy. In addition to meeting the humanitarian needs through generous foreign aid, continue to push for an end to the war – and support legislation that will achieve this goal. Please increase pressure on the Trump administration to elevate its diplomatic efforts, pressing the parties to the conflict to engage in the ongoing United Nations-led political talks and uphold the agreements reached in Sweden in December 2018.

Congressional leadership can signal to the world that Americans want to end this war through a political solution. Only peace can lay the groundwork for a secure and sustainable future for the people of Yemen.

Congress must continue to exert efforts to help find a political solution in Yemen. As a concerned citizen, I ask you to stand up for the millions of men, women and children who are suffering amidst ongoing conflict.

Thank you for your consideration of these requests.
