Mercy Corps teams are on the ground in a region of South Asia rocked by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake. Current reports estimate the death toll at 229, and rising, with hundreds of others injured, but the full extent of the damage is not yet known.
The earthquake hit Monday afternoon local time and was felt in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kashmir and southern Tajikistan. Our team members are coordinating with local partners to gather information about damage and potential need. You can help us respond to earthquakes and other disasters around the world with your gift to our Humanitarian Response Fund.
When natural disasters strike, when conflicts rip communities apart, we are there to help families survive, recover and rebuild. Your gift strengthens our teams' ability to respond around the world and provide a critical lifeline to many people during their most desperate time of need.
Mercy Corps has worked in Pakistan and Afghanistan since the 1980s and in the past has been one of the main responders to emergencies, including earthquakes, in both countries.
Your first monthly gift will be processed on April 1st and on the 1st day of each subsequent month.
