Chief Development & Marketing Officer Dara Royer recognized for outstanding brand leadership and business growth

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Dara Royer, Chief Development & Marketing Officer of the global organization Mercy Corps, has garnered the 2016 Officers Award from The CMO Club, a membership organization of senior marketing executives. The Officers Award recognizes recipients for “demonstrated leadership in leading the brand beyond the marketing department and leading the growth agenda for the company.”

“Mercy Corps’ work around the world to help people survive conflict and disaster and transform their communities for good has never been more relevant or necessary than it is today,” says Royer. “This award is a great honor, and celebrates the hard work of the entire Mercy Corps team to educate donors, policymakers and other stakeholders about our critical mission.”

When Royer joined Mercy Corps, profile-raising and fundraising were not keeping pace with growth goals, despite Mercy Corps’ extensive reach in more than 40 countries. Externally, the organization faced fierce competition for philanthropic dollars – only four percent of charitable dollars in the United States go to international causes – as well as a global business need for a stronger brand position. Under Royer’s leadership, an internal branding team designed and launched a cohesive, impactful brand strategy to unify Mercy Corps’ voice and tell an epic – not episodic – brand narrative to advance Mercy Corps’ core organizational goals.

“In many ways, we’re just at the beginning of this journey,” says Royer. “At Mercy Corps, we believe deeply that a better world is possible – and we know that we can mobilize a great many more champions around that fundamental principle.”
