In Ida Adays village, our mobile health team weighed seven-month-old Nasteho Mohamed and found her to be malnourished. She weighed only 4kg, but at her age should be somewhere around 4.8kg.

She's one of many children who still don't have enough to eat as the Horn of Africa hunger crisis continues.

Luckily, Nasteho still had an appetite, so the nurses sent her mother home with packets of the fortified food paste Plumpy Nut. They will return in one week and the nurses will weigh Nasteho again to assess her progress. The baby will continue to receive Plumpy Nut supplements until she is well enough to graduate to supplementation with a high-energy porridge mix, made from a corn-soya blend.
