One in every nine people around the world goes to bed hungry every night. 85 million people are expected to need emergency aid just this year.

From Ethiopia and Nigeria to Yemen and Afghanistan, hunger devastates the most vulnerable communities. Breaking the cycle of hunger is possible, but we need you to speak out.

Add your name today to tell Congress that we must fight hunger and support food security programs that feed people around the world.

When we speak out together for hunger relief, we can ensure that families get the support they need to survive and rebuild after disaster— families like those in Zimbabwe facing food shortages after their crops and livestock were destroyed in Cyclone Idai.

Urge your representatives to fight hunger by funding food security aid today.

Take action

My Message

Dear Member of Congress,

As your constituent, I am writing to ask you to protect funding for programs in the Agriculture Appropriations bill dedicated to fighting hunger around the world.

Programs like Food for Peace Title II and McGovern Dole have demonstrated America’s commitment to support food security and nutrition around the world. These programs help vulnerable communities cope in the midst of emergencies caused by conflict and natural disasters. They also help provide lunches for kids in school and enhance vulnerable communities' ability to cope with future shocks so that they can continue to provide for themselves.

In Fiscal Year 2020, I ask that you support funding in the Agriculture Appropriations bill at the following levels:
  • Food for Peace Title II programs with at least $1.9 billion, including $365 million for the non-emergency programs
  • McGovern-Dole International Food for Education & Child Nutrition Program with at least $210.3 million, including at least $15 million for Local and Regional Procurement
  • Food for Progress pilot programs that were authorized in the 2018 Farm Bill with at least $10 million

Thank you for joining me in the fight against hunger.
