The context

Protracted conflict between government and non-government forces has triggered a massive humanitarian crisis in eastern Ukraine. Some 1.4 million people are displaced and over 1 million more have fled the country. Services like water, electricity and the banking sector have been disrupted, making it difficult for families who already lack shelter to meet their basic needs.

The economy has stalled and the majority of displaced families have lost their incomes. Many of the elderly, who make up more than 60 percent of the displaced population, have no means to support themselves and are especially vulnerable to the current conditions.

Our work

  • Emergency Response: Met the urgent needs of people displaced in the eastern region of the country. Distributed emergency supplies, improved access to adequate shelter, protected the elderly and provided livelihoods assistance to help displaced families get back on their feet.
