Lucy Lee Helm, Director

Lucy Lee Helm

Lucy Lee Helm is a long-time Mercy Corps supporter, legal expert and philanthropist.

Lucy’s first involvement with Mercy Corps was as a donor, supporting disaster response in Haiti in the 1990s. Over the years she sought new ways to engage, joining the board of directors in 2015. She currently serves as a director, and chair of the board development committee.

In her time with Mercy Corps, Lucy has been most inspired by working with her fellow board members and meeting staff from across the organization. She has also appreciated visiting the programming and learning about the work first-hand.

Lucy has worked at Starbucks since 1999, serving in various legal roles and eventually becoming general counsel. In 2017, she moved to her current position as executive vice president and chief partner officer, leading the global law and corporate affairs department in 16 offices around the world.

She also supports the Starbucks board of directors and serves as a member of the company’s senior leadership team. Prior to Starbucks Lucy practiced trial law at law firms in Seattle and Louisville. She attended the University of Louisville and Brandeis School of Law.

In addition to her professional duties Lucy serves on the board of the Washington YMCA Youth and Government Program; on the advisory board of Disability Rights Advocates, a non-profit disability law center; and as the co-chair for the Campaign for Equal Justice.

In her personal time she enjoys traveling, reading, hiking and spending time with her family.
