Georgia is still trying to find its place in the international arena since the dissipation of the Soviet Union more than twenty years ago. Changes in Georgia’s government after the Rose Revolution in 2003 have left a shaky civil society and an impoverished rural population. Mercy Corps is fighting poverty and helping create stable communities by providing technical assistance to small-scale farmers, as well as disaster prevention and preparedness training in poor rural areas.
