Our strategy

Meet humanitarian needs, bolster early recovery and boost livelihoods for families affected by conflict in Darfur and border areas with South Sudan.

The context

Sudan is marked now by 20 percent inflation, a shrinking economy, student protests and several simultaneous rebellions — in Darfur, the Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile State — as well as stiff American sanctions and genocide charges related to Darfur. The independence of South Sudan in 2011 resolved years of civil war, but conflicts continue to arise between Sudan and its new neighbor.
