South Lebanon Labor Market Assessment
Youth are currently the most under-employed group in Lebanon. To address this critical concern, Mercy Corps implemented a European Union-funded program in South Lebanon that provided skills-based training to young people through private sector actors and then linked them to potential employment opportunties to build greater self-reliance.

Youth & Consequences: Unemployment, Injustice and Violence
Our new report, Youth & Consequences: Unemployment, Injustice and Violence, tackles some of the most persistent assumptions driving youth programming in fragile states. Drawing on interviews and surveys with youth in Afghanistan, Colombia and Somalia, we find the principal drivers of political violence are rooted not in poverty, but in experiences of injustice: discrimination, corruption and abuse by security forces.

Promoting Youth Employment in Yemen
Mercy Corps completed a brief youth assessment in Yemen to create a snapshot of economic realities and identify opportunities for future livelihoods programming. The assessment, focused on urban youth, identified main constraints for youth of finding employment, and it puts forward recommendations for employment strategies.
