Want to buy a book? Why not help Haiti instead?
Amazon.com is giving customers the choice. Today the Seattle-based online retailer placed a box on its Web site offering visitors a way to help Haiti through the charity Mercy Corps.
"At this stage of the emergency response, the greatest priority for Mercy Corps and its humanitarian partners is providing survivors with food, shelter and other supplies," reads a statement linked in the home page box.
"Your financial contribution will help Mercy Corps provide support for those in need."
The right sidebar in this Seattle Times story includes a good list of agencies local and national putting together ways to help. This story explores the local agencies in a bit more depth. KING-5 also lists good ways to help.
