It’s fitting that teachers from our Women’s Awareness and Inclusion (WAI) program got together to celebrate International Women’s Day — many of them for the first time. They work everyday to educate more than 5,000 girls and women at our 88 learning centers across southern Iraq, helping them become powerful advocates for themselves, their families and leaders for their communities.
“I consider education to be an essential part of women’s lives. It helps them see their place in the world,” Maidah said. “I am so happy to see people celebrating International Women’s Day once again in our country.”
