A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Haiti's capital of Port-au-Prince Tuesday, January 12th, collapsing buildings, including at least 5 hospitals. With communications from the area disrupted, the situation is still slightly unclear.
At first, it was said that possibly 50,000 people were killed as a result of the earthquake. About a week later, the number of of people killed was estimated to have risen by 100,000.
