Please help me raise money to empower Haitian youth to revitalize their communities. One hundred percent of your donation will go toward giving earthquake-affected youth job skills training and learning opportunities to last a lifetime.
Haiti is an exceptionally young country. And as a result, Haiti's youth were disproportionately affected by the January 12 earthquake that devastated Port-au-Prince and other parts of the country. Haitian youth also account for the vast majority of the country's unemployed or underemployed. This has only worsened with the destruction of businesses and depletion of job opportunities. As a result, youth find themselves wondering what to do next.
Through workshops and practical work, Mercy Corps' Youth for Social Change project will help engage young Haitians in meaningful learning activities: leadership training, photography, documentary storytelling and use of new media. This training will help them become community leaders and advocates for social change. More than ever, Haiti needs young leaders — and together, we can help encourage them as they strive to rebuild their country.
