Message from Cheri Armour

In January of 2010, the country of Haiti was devastated by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake. In the months following the earthquake, the response was absolutely overwhelming! But nearly 3 years later, our work is not done. Despite the great work that's already been done in my country, I'd like to make sure we're still aware, and still addressing the needs of the community. The reason why I chose Mercy Corps? They assess the needs of Haiti's community, and collaborate with them on long-term solutions. We're not going to put a band-aid on the problem, Mercy is going to help us address some of the persisting issues in order to continue with recovery efforts.

Where you come in is super duper simple. From December 12, 2012 (one month before the anniversary of the quake), through January 31st, 2013 (this gives you over a month!), I will run, and log my mileage through my blog. What I'd like you to do is pledge what you can for each mile. 25 cents, 50 cents, 1 dollar, 20 dollars, whatever is comfortable for you. By the end of the period, and following the grand total for my mileage, donate whatever you pledged! To make it even more fun, I'll be blogging throughout, so you can keep up with my runs, my pains, my triumphs, shoe updates, winter warmth technology, races, and nutrition, as well as updates as we approach the anniversary of the quake.

So please join me to raise funds for this awesome cause! I look forward to seeing what we can do!

**As a helpful hint, remember that you're pledging per mile! So a $2.00 donation (which is our suggested number) means $2.00/mile. If I run 100 miles, that's a $200.00 donation. Also, if you'd like to donate a lump sum, that's totally allowed too; just give whatever you can give.**
