Displaced

Team at conference working together.

Right now, more than 70 million people — 51 percent of whom are children — are displaced around the world. Torn from their homes, refugees face daunting journeys, traveling to unfamiliar destinations seeking safety, shelter and the chance at a brighter future. Mercy Corpsis on the ground meeting refugees where they are with food, shelter, urgently needed cash, clean water, educational and psychosocial support for youth and more.

Through our Displaced workshop, groups of employees can come together to learn more about what is driving the global refugee crisis through a hands-on, participatory workshop.  Mercy Corps will bring facilitators to your campus for a 90-minute session designed to shed a light on the refugee experience. During the workshop, participants will gain insights into the reasons why refugees flee, the challenges and difficult decisions they encounter along the way, and what we can do to help. The workshop will end with an inspiring activity that allows participants to take immediate action in support of refugee communities.

Employee reactions

"Putting myself in the shoes of a refugee family was a first time experience for me. We see numbers and pictures on the news, but being faced with the impossible choices was a shocking and eye-opening experience."

"I thought even with the limited amount of time, running into all the issues opened my eyes the most, and those were just the tip of the iceberg compared to reality."
