Up to an estimated half-million Iraqis have fled to Jordan since 2003, part of what the UN High Commissioner for Refugees calls "the biggest displacement crisis in the Middle East" in nearly 60 years. Mercy Corps programs in this region are providing access to education and assistance for emigre families, as well as easing the strain on natural resources by addressing the rising cost and scarcity of water.
