Q. What is MPower?
A. MPower is a new way for donors to support projects that are delivering real change to people in need.
Q. How does it work?
A. MPower puts the power to make a difference in your hands. It's simple to get started:
- Choose the specific project you want to support.
- Create a fundraising page for that project.
- Customize your page by uploading a photo, setting a fundraising goal and writing a message about why you're supporting the project.
- Use our share tools to spread the word to friends, family, coworkers ... anyone who might support your cause! Their donations — and any comments they make — will show up on your page's "leaderboard."
You can also support any of the projects by making a donation directly to the project.
Whichever route you go, you'll get the satisfaction of supporting a specific project delivering real change to families in need.
Q. What projects can I support?
A. We currently offer eight projects:
- Empower Women in India Through Literacy
- Make an Urban Slum in Colombia Safer for Families
- Protect Guatemalan Rainforests
- Fight Child Malnutrition in Indonesia
- Rebuild Farms in War-Ravaged Liberia
- Bring Clean Drinking Water to Rural Pakistan
- Empower Palestinian Youth with Disabilities
- Fight HIV/AIDS in the Central African Republic
These projects have been carefully designed by our field staff and local partners based on community needs. Each team has written a plan, set a budget — and now, they need your financial support to make it happen.
Q. How will I know how much money I raise?
A. You'll get an email alerting you every time someone makes a donation to your page. You'll also see the names of people who donate to your page, as well as any comments they've left, on your personal fundraising page. And the website will show the leading fundraisers for each project, so you can track your progress -- and maybe even start a little friendly competition.
Q. How much time do I have to fundraise?
A. We have no specific deadline to meet fundraising goals for projects.
Q. What happens if you reach your goal before I'm done?
A. It's OK! We've made sure that for each project, our field teams can put to use any additional money we raise assisting even more people in need.
