A warm welcome to all those taking part in the 2011 Mongol Rally! Mercy Corps is delighted to be one of the recommended charities for this fantastic event - to date the Mongol Rally teams have raised over £500,000 for our ongoing work in Mongolia.

The 2010 Rally has been a great success with 450 teams from across the globe taking part, raising over £100,000 for Mercy Corps and it’s thanks to the terrific ralliers that we can continue our various projects across rural aimags (districts) in Mongolia.

These projects strive to improve the lives of many rural communities and vulnerable groups that currently live in harsh conditions and face a constant struggle to survive. The projects range from setting up schools, building children’s playgrounds, establishing support centres to try and combat alcohol abuse amongst youth, and providing regular home care training sessions for families who are living with a member who has a disability.

The Mongol Rally is not an event for the faint hearted,10,000 miles in a car with about as much power as your hairdryer, not to mention no maps and no support unit! To find out more visit the the Adventurists website.

To read the fantastic tale of Jayne and John Bell, two Adventurists who conquered the Rally in 09, lived to tell the tale and raised an incredible £1,244 for Mercy Corps simply click here.

We know that fundraising can seem like a daunting task, but we offer to support you every step of the way. Our events coordinator Sandra Dow will be delighted to hear from you, you can contact her on +44 (0) 131 662 5176 or via amillar@uk.mercycorps.org
