And often that water is contaminated. Mercy Corps helps bring clean water closer to home by digging wells and tapping other water sources.

Why Help Is Needed

Clean water is possibly the world’s most valuable commodity, and certainly the most necessary to sustaining life. Unfortunately for many of the world’s poorest communities, clean water is rare and sometimes completely unavailable. This scarcity leads to illness, lost opportunity for school and work, crop failure and, in many cases, conflict.
