The World's largest USA Songwriting Competition on Saturday launched a campain "Songwriters For Japan" to support relief in Japan as top names in the entertainment world offered condolences after the mega-quake and tsunami.
A devastating tsunami spawned by the strongest earthquake to ever strike Japan has killed hundreds and displaced tens of thousands. The death toll in Japan from Friday's devastating earthquake and tsunami now exceeds 2,800, and over 10,000 people are estimated to have died. Entire villages have been washed away, tens of thousands of people are still missing, and at least 300,000 people have been forced to leave their homes. We have many entrants from Japan every year and acknowledge Japanese songwriters and composers.
Mercy Corps is accepting donations to help survivors of Japan's earthquake and tsunami through its longstanding partner, Peace Winds Japan.
Your donation will be used to meet immediate and longer-term needs of earthquake survivors.
Thank you!
