Sonicbids' Haiti Response Fundraiser

I love the spirit of the Sonicbids community.

A few weeks ago, I sent out a note asking our members to join Sonicbids in donating money to the Haiti Relief Effort, and we were overwhelmed by the positive response and generosity of members who made a contribution. We were able to reach our goal of a $10,000 donation to Mercy Corps to aid in this effort.

If you donated, you have likely been receiving email updates from Mercy Corps to see your contribution at work. If not, you should know that your donation has helped foster things like clearing debris, cleaning wells, waterproofing shelters, emotional recovery programs for surviving children, and more. Hopefully you feel as much personal reward as we do for making these things possible.

So, thank you. I knew we could count on you to step up to help others in need. And I believe that doing good serves us all well in the long run.

Thanks again.

Project summary

Just hours after a catastrophic earthquake struck Haiti — killing thousands and displacing up to two million people — Mercy Corps began deploying an experienced, field-tested emergency response team. Upon arriving in Port-au-Prince, we went immediately to work, talking with displaced survivors about what they needed most. We delivered 15 tons of food to the city's biggest hospital. We got clean water flowing again in medical clinics and shattered neighborhoods. We ensured a reliable income for survivors by creating a cash-for-work program, which also began revitalizing failing local economies. Today, our team is working with survivors, local authorities and partner organizations on long-term plans — including job creation — that will help Haiti rebuild better and stronger.
