April's fundraising page for Pakistan Flooding

This monsoon season has brought enormous floods to Pakistan that have affected 20 million people. This tradgedy has really touched me. The need is so great, and yet relief has been slow to arrive in Pakistan. There are many dangers and security concerns for bringing relief to this area, as the Pakistan Taliban has stated that they will specifically target aid workers. Despite, and because of, the tenuous political relationship between the west and Pakistan, it seems so important to extend love and care for these people, especially now in their time of extreme need.

Mercy Corps has staff on the ground working to provide clean water to tens of thousands of people, and staple foods and clean-up tools to hundreds of affected families. They're also running mobile health clinics and delivering hygiene kits with soap, towels and other essentials.

Please help me raise money to help Mercy Corps aid families affected by the flooding. Thank you!

Here's my version of "Small Print"
Sometimes its hard to know which organization will be a good steward of your donation. I wanted to find a charity with a Christian foundation that had a history in Pakistan as well as being know for its efficient use of donations and economic transparency. In my web research I found that Mercy Corps has received an "A" rating from MinistryWatch.com and an "A-" rating from the American Institue of Philanthropy. I can't guarantee that you won't get some spam mail from them if you donate (this is a pet peeve of mine with all charities), but if you're bugged, I will find the right people to call to help you get off their mailing list.

In its vision statement, Mercy Corps states "Mercy Corps exists to help build a world in which God's transforming love overcomes hate, violence, poverty and despair; a world where children experience a caring family, a nurturing community, a sacred environment, love, and the opportunity to fulfill their God-given potential." It is also a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).
