Allison Huggins raised $0 for Women's rights in Central African Republic
I have worked in many countries in Africa, and Central African Republic (CAR) is by far the most challenging place I have ever been. Women here face poverty, hunger and violence on a daily basis.
In the 15 months that I have worked in CAR, I have met so many inspiring women who are eager to learn new skills or start businesses all so that they can provide a better future for their children. For example, Jeanne Ngbo, the president of the Association of Women Fish Sellers in Bambari. As a widow at 50 years old, she decided to learn to read and write, and is now teaching literacy classes at her church. When we recently awarded her association a grant to start a pig raising project, she proudly came to the front of the room to sign her name and said, "all of my hard work learning how to read and write has finally paid off."
Please support us to continue helping the women of CAR to improve their livelihoods and learn about their rights. We have many women's groups who have developed projects that are waiting to be funded, and they would appreciate your support!
Thanks,
Allison
