Andrew & Friends' Haiti Earthquake Response Fundraiser

Hello friends, please help me raise money for Mercy Corps' response to the Haiti Earthquake.

I've seen firsthand the great work Mercy Corps does in such disaster zones and the lives they are able to save and help rebuild. Watching the heart-wrenching images coming out of Port-au-Prince today reminded me of the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch I witnessed in Honduras eleven years ago. Then, as now, Mercy Corps was there. So, if you're wondering how you can help, please think about giving a few dollars to this very effective organization.

Every little bit makes a difference, really.

With communications from the area disrupted, the situation is unclear -- but with continued aftershocks and eyewitness accounts of "total disaster" and chaos, there are fears of catastrophic damage and widespread casualties. Mercy Corps is deploying an emergency response team to help survivors. You can follow the latest updates at mercycorps.org/haiti.

Our first goal of $3000 was met within two hours, our updated goal of $5000 was met in less than one business day.

We've set a NEW, NEW goal of $10,000 - let's see where this goes.

Thank you for your help and please forward this to anyone interested in a place to contribute!

Andrew

Project summary

Just hours after a catastrophic earthquake struck Haiti — killing thousands and displacing up to two million people — Mercy Corps began deploying an experienced, field-tested emergency response team. Upon arriving in Port-au-Prince, we went immediately to work, talking with displaced survivors about what they needed most. We delivered 15 tons of food to the city's biggest hospital. We got clean water flowing again in medical clinics and shattered neighborhoods. We ensured a reliable income for survivors by creating a cash-for-work program, which also began revitalizing failing local economies. Today, our team is working with survivors, local authorities and partner organizations on long-term plans — including job creation — that will help Haiti rebuild better and stronger.
