January 19th through February 14th
Laura Bee Designs has a bodacious goal of selling 200 felt flowers by February 14th, 2010 to support the Mercy Corps relief effort for Haiti survivors.
They will donate $10 from the sale of each felt dahlia pin to Mercy Corps and are generously donating their labor, materials, and design to the effort.
When Laura Bee started making these flowers in early January, she thought they would be a fun little flash of color perfect for the gray winter weather and simply loved working with the 100% recycled felt, which is made from PET soda bottles. That was before the earthquake in Haiti and the massive human tragedy there. Thinking about how helpless one feels in the face of such a huge disaster, one recent morning she looked at the humble, cozy flowers, and had a thought. What if the Laura Bee team makes a huge garden of these flowers to sell in our store and online, donates our handwork and materials, offers the blooms at a fair price, and gives $10 from each to our favorite relief organization?
Go to Laura Bee Designs, choose your flower color and they'll sew up a lovely bloom for you (or two, or four), topping it off with a vintage button and description card. The goal is 200 - the project will end by cutting a check to MercyCorps on February 14th, 2009.
Please allow 2-3 weeks from your order date to receive the blossoms - we'll sew them up as fast as we can.
