Powell's Books, Mercy Corps and the Flight of Friendship have joined together in a major effort to help rebuild the book collection at the Rosa Keller Library in New Orleans. The library, located in the historic and heavily damaged Broadmoor neighborhood, was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Earlier this year, Powells.com collected donations to purchase books for the library, which has a wish list of 3,500 titles. The goal was to raise enough money to donate all 3,500 titles and send excess donations to the New Orleans Public Library system to assist them in stocking temporary libraries around the city.

Shoppers at Powells.com pitched in to help New Orleans by purchasing $25 Book Kits, which paid for approximately two library-bound children's books, or making a $10 Book Pledge.
