Thanks to the effort of Mercy Corps supporters, both the House and Senate have included $100 million in emergency funding for families displaced by disaster and conflict in Sudan and other African countries.

Mercy Corps continues to bring humanitarian relief to the Darfur region of Sudan, where the crisis has left millions in need of food and shelter. Conflict and instability in other African countries also have led to humanitarian crises that threaten to destabilize the entire region.

The United Nations is vastly under-funded for their work in Africa, and relief organizations are unable to adequately meet humanitarian needs in places such as Congo, Northern Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia and Liberia. We will continue to advocate for additional resources to meet these urgent and critical needs.
