Rachel Lieber is the Grants and Reports Manager in Mercy Corps' South Asia Regional Office in Islamabad, Pakistan. She has agreed to provide periodic updates about her work and life in Pakistan.
Lieber has worked for Mercy Corps for seven years, previously serving as a headquarters-based program officer and as a Program Coordination Officer in Eritrea.
In her current position, she is responsible for ensuring that donor reporting requirements are met, supporting the development of new proposals, developing public information tools and providing direct support to the implementation of programs in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
A native of South Dakota, Lieber graduated from the University of South Dakota with a degree in Mass Communication. After a brief stint at a political consulting firm in Washington, D.C., she joined the U.S. Agency for International Development's Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance from 1992-1995, where she participated in the US Government's disaster relief operations for the Somalia famine and civil war and managed the U.S. Government's relief programs in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Congo-Kinshasa.
Rachel is the proud mother of five-year-old world-traveler Tess.
